What is a VA IRRRL?
A plain explanation of the VA Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loan, who it is for, and what it does not do.
IRRRL stands for Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loan. People also call it a VA streamline. It is a refinance for a home you already live in, when you already have a VA loan.
The point is a lower rate, and usually less paperwork than a full refinance. It is not a way to take cash out. Cash-out is a different VA loan.
What to expect
- You keep paying your current loan until the new one closes.
- Most IRRRLs do not need a new appraisal. A lender can still ask for one.
- A VA funding fee may apply unless you are exempt. We show that before you apply.
- The new payment should make sense. If it does not, we say so.
Eligibility for the VA benefit is confirmed by the VA. A page on a website cannot do that. We can help you see whether a streamline is worth a real quote.
Sunview Lending is not part of the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is not a commitment to lend.
